It’s that time of year once again folks, where I spend all my pocket monies trying to see each and every one of the movies nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, aka “the Oscars.” This year’s nominees are mostly films made by and starring white male dudes that other white male dudes think are awesome, except for The Help, which is about how white people can solve racism for black people. To be honest, there are a bunch of films this year I have little to no interest in seeing (The Descendants, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), much less using what little extra income I have to do so. But, a tradition is a tradition, so despite my trepidation, I’ll be reviewing the major nominees over the next few weeks, providing my opinions about who should win, who is grossly over-lauded, and sometimes who should have been nominated, *ahem* Alan Rickhman as Snape *ahem*.
And, of course, I’ll be living-tweeting the ceremony on February 25th for your film and sartorial enjoyment. Maybe the dresses will excite me this year, cause Mama needs sumpin’…
Update: Due to a friend’s passing, I will not be able to review every nominated film before the telecast.
