About Last Night: Parks and Recreation

Season 4, Episode 20, 4/26/2012 (“The Debate”)

Bobby: By the year 2013, we will have a fully functioning mall on Jupiter

First off, did you know that Amy Poehler wrote and directed last night’s episode? I didn’t! Go Amy! Starring, writing, and making other people do what you want. ::tips sneaking around clothes hat::

Too bad it was a somewhat uneven episode. ::sad face:: Paul Rudd’s much-anticipated return as Bobby Newport did not disappoint. Mainly because he didn’t disappoint at the debate, which was a nice bit of tension. He came off as charming and sweet and Leslie as mean and aggressive. That is until he threatened that Pawnee’s biggest employer Sweetums would leave for Mexico if he didn’t win. Leslie, who had been holding back her attacks (and making me genuinely nervous for her), let it all lose with a speech that gave me goosebumps and caused her opponent to stupidly applaud her and get misty-eyed. Man, that guy is dumb as rocks. And oh so cute.  Continue reading

About Last Night: Parks and Recreation

Season 4, Episode 19, 4/19/2012 (“Live Ammo”)

Jennifer: I’m not saying she’s a dog murder per se. I just think her actions raise some questions, like ‘is Leslie Knope a dog murder?

Yayz! Parks and Recreation is back on! I didn’t even realize it and am only just now watching it, as Up All Night‘s episode last week didn’t feel like a finale. It just felt like another episode where I lightly guffaw and think about how Amy Poehler’s husband could be given so much better material than he is. I mean, normally I would have already watched this episode 10 times by now and forced my husband to watch a “highlight” reel. Anyhows, Parks and Recreation came back with what turned out to be a killer episode. Get it? Killer as in ammo! Hahaha! I heart puns. Except, well, there weren’t any guns in this episode. Just lots and lots of rescue animals… Continue reading

About Last Night: Bones

Season 7, Episode 7, 4/2/2012 (“The Prisoner in the Pipe”)

“You aren’t getting anywhere near my cervix, Ms. Wick” ~ Temperance Brennan

Bones returned from its midseason hiatus last night with the birth episode. I have to say that, like Glee, I might just have to stop recapping this show. It’s taking all the fun I used to get out of watching it. I need my brain off and for my eye rolls to be silent, not given sentences. Recaps also take a lot of time and energy and they have to be fun for me, challenging my writing, and my tv-watching lens to be worth it.

About Last Night: Parks and Recreation

Season 4, Episode 18, 3/08/2012 (“Lucky”)

Ron: Anyone want to go to JJ’s for some after dinner omelets?

Well, we had our last Parks and Recreation episode for over a month! Sure it’s so Community can come back, but sad face. Thankfully, it was doozy of an episode to keep us going, with Leslie giving a drunk interview to Pawnee-hating Buddy Wood (the hilarious Sean Hayes) for his big city Indianapolis morning talk show.

About Last Night: Parks and Recreation

Season 4, Episode 17, 3/01/2012 (“Campaign Shake-Up”)

Leslie: Like I always say, stairs is a young man’s game.

Can I just start by saying that I love me some Kathryn Hahn? Yeah, her recent show Free Agents spiraled into a freefall shortly after takeoff (not sure why the plane analogy instead of a spy one given the title, but whatevs), but the girl seems to be just around the corner from her big moment. She was one of the few genuinely funny parts of Wanderlust (review coming soon!) and, come to think of it, Our Idiot Brother. And on last night’s Parks and Recreation, she played a polished, savvy, Washington campaign runner just as hilariously as she’s played unwashed hippies.  Continue reading
